The clear aligner process
Consultation and digital scan
Your clear aligner journey begins with a consultation and a full digital scan using our Medit intraoral scanner. Dr. Franco reviews your bite, alignment, and overall oral health to determine whether clear aligners are the right fit for your situation. He walks you through his findings and gives you a clear picture of what treatment will involve before anything is committed to.
Treatment planning and tray fabrication
Once your case is approved for treatment, your custom aligner trays are fabricated based on your digital scan and treatment plan. Before your trays are made, Dr. Franco reviews the projected tooth movement with you so you can see where your smile is headed. Your trays are then produced and ready for pickup at your fitting appointment.
Wearing your aligners
You will wear each set of trays for the designated period — typically one to two weeks — before moving to the next set in the series. Aligners should be worn 20 to 22 hours per day for the best results, removed only for eating, drinking anything other than water, brushing, and flossing. Dr. Franco monitors your progress at regular check-in appointments throughout treatment to make sure everything is tracking as planned.
Retention
Once your final tray is complete, retainers are an important part of keeping your results in place. Without retention, teeth have a natural tendency to shift back toward their original position over time. Dr. Franco will walk you through your retention options and what to expect after active treatment is finished.
